Match results from Mon 23rd – Fri 27th Sept
Yr10/11 Rugby: Unfortunately no Yr11 players were available so we took our brave Yr10s to take on a very strong squad at DHSB. With low numbers we merged 5 DHSB players into our team and all competed brilliantly. A difficult start against a full Yr11 team meant it was mainly defensive work but after half-time changes our combined Yr10/11 team fought back tenaciously to win the second half but lose 25-24 overall. All ECC players gave everything with Dylan P, Mati W and Daniel J leading the charge back.
Yr9 Rugby: We travelled to Torbridge with high numbers and to play Heles. We lent them a player and game commenced. Tactically we were more astute and scored first but were lacking the fast/baulky players of Hele’s who went on to win.
U14 Football: Despite a 2-4 loss at Torpoint our boys showed tenacity against their opponents and set an excellent sporting example to make Mr Whaley proud of their maturity and team spirit.
U13 Football: St Boniface’s made the best of their attacking chances to overcome our better tactical play and showed calmer heads in front of goal to finish 3-1 winners.
Yr7-9 Table Tennis Festival: What a fantastic event! 14 players all working well and playing against players of all abilities to score as many points as possible for their team! Over 10,000 pts scored over all the 3 round-robin group stages with DHSB winning and our players learning fast to gain a meritable 5th place. Brilliant team ethos and excellent representation of the ECC TICK values.
Open Evening: With a fantastic team of sport leaders showing compassion, knowledge and huge enthusiasm it was a great night for our prospective new students and parents. Netball, basketball, badminton, football target shooting, table tennis, rowing and agility running were all available plus the chance to ask lots of questions and see our students in action. Thank you to all involved!

U13 Girls Football: Our combined Yr 7-8 team show massive promise and showed both aggression when tackling mixed with calm heads and tactical teamwork in their impressive 7-2 national cup win over Ivybridge. This cohesive team shows the potential to be very strong and the future looks very bright. Go girls!
U15 Rugby: Our Yr 9-10s shows heart and increasing aggression against a big Coombe Dean in the U15 West Devon Cup. The 2nd half performance showed massive improvements as less experienced players got used to the pace and physicality for us to finish a beaten 32-0 but proud of our commitment and development.
Yr8 & Yr9 Netball: both year groups played well in their central venue fixtures at Hele’s School.
Yr7 Rugby: as a first match experience for most teams it was a brilliant atmosphere with players learning the game. We lent players as needed to bolster other schools and played St.Boniface’s and Stoke but despite tenacious tackling lost to an experienced DHSB.
Cross-Country Leaders: after a frenetic start dealing with parent parking for the Plymouth Schools cross-country our sports leader team were fantastic role models with many teachers and parents praising their compassion and enthusiasm.
