Its been a busy two weeks with plenty of updates.
Thank you to all staff and students who have supported our Year 6 Open events over the past two weeks. Our student ambassadors have done themselves, their families and the College proud. A special thanks to Lola G, Flynn S, Chloe B and Lucy M for the part they played in the Principal’s presentation. We still have two Year 6 Open Mornings to go on the 14th and 15th October – please book a place via the QR code on our Facebook advert or on our College website.
Mrs Arscott, Mrs Flippance and Ms Childs all had the pleasure of taking a group of students to see the brilliant '& Juliet' at the Theatre Royal last Thursday evening. The students were a credit to Eggbuckland and everyone had a fantastic evening. One student remarked it was ‘the best night ever!’.
Last week, Year 9 went to Plymouth Life Centre to take part in the Launch Pad live careers event. Year 9 students fully enjoyed the event embracing all the activities and investigating career pathways for their futures. Employers commented on how polite and engaging the students were: they were fantastic ambassadors for ECC. One of our new members of staff at the College also remarked on how kind, thoughtful and polite our students were, commenting on how almost every single student smiled, thanked each of the companies that they spoke to, and seemed to have given a lot of thought to their desired goals in life.
Our Year 11 Geographers had weather of all kinds to contend with on their Geography fieldwork! Well done for the perseverance, Year 11.
And Year 7 had a fabulous team building sessions (indoors!) with their Tutor and Tutor group, hosted by the Royal Navy – thanks to Mrs Grimes for organising this event.
At the College we promote our Core values of Tenacity, Integrity, Compassion and Knowledge and congratulate our students on exemplifying these values on a daily basis.
It’s also been a busy time in the world of Sport at ECC: hosting the Plymouth Schools Cross-Country event which called upon the help of our Sports Leaders, U13 Girls Football, Year 10/11 Rugby, Year 9 Rugby, U14 and U13 Football, Year 8 and 9 Netball, Year 7 Rugby, the Table Tennis festival and our ‘This Girl Can’ sports initiative. Further details can all be found in the separate Sports Update post.
It was great to see so many students and parents in Year 11 join our Year 11 Information evening event last Thursday. We know that hard work every day really does pay off – Year 11 can be a mountain to climb, but we are here to support you every step of the way, and the view from the top as an exceptional graduate is well worth it! The Revision Booklet can all be accessed via our website.
Now for our Sparx winning Tutor groups of the last two weeks for the highest completion rates:
Week commencing 23rd Sep: Mrs Grimes, Mrs Channing, Mr Whaley, Mrs Nunn and Mr Suckling.
Week commencing 30th Sep: Mrs Grimes, Mrs Channing, Mr Whaley, Mrs Nunn and Mr Clemens.
Well done! But can Mrs Grimes, Mrs Channing, Mr Whaley or Mrs Nunn’s groups be beaten next week?
