Welcome back to the Principal's Weekly Round-up.

Can I extend a warm welcome to all of our new students and their families.

We have now completed a full cycle of our two weekly timetable at the College. I have been so proud of the way our students have approached the new term - with enthusiasm, tenacity, energy and compassion.

Our new year 7 students, the class of 2029, have settled in well and are embracing school life.

It is wonderful to see all our students every morning at Strong Starts, ready for the day and collectively celebrating the daily successes of their Year Group.

Thank you to our Year 7 - 9 parents who joined us for Meet the Tutor and Support Evening last week and for the positive feedback we received on the information sessions and drop-in clinics we put on to help parents better understand school life at ECC. We will be welcoming in Year 10-13 parents in the coming weeks.

As always at ECC, it's been a busy and vibrant start to term, with our Duke of Edinburgh students out on expedition last week, auditions for the College musical, Matilda, taking place, Year 11 Geographers out on field work next week and Year 9s off to Launchpad Live.

Talking of Year 11 - what a great start they have made, making every second count in lessons right up until the end of our additional Period 6 sessions. Well done class of 2025!

Our new Year 12 cohort have also settled in well, wearing their new blue lanyards with pride and quickly establishing excellent working habits in the Sixth Form centre.

This week we crowned our first Sparx Weekly Winners, celebrating and rewarding the Tutor Groups in each Year Group with the best completion rate.

The winners were:

7NSF, 8GOC, 9MHW, 10CVN, 11PGS

We know from national research the difference that Sparx Maths makes to children's outcomes at GCSE and we ask for the support of all parents and carers to ensure their child is completing their Sparx homework each week.

Finally, to celebrate our first Students of the Week of this academic year:

Year 7: Aimee R

Year 8: Lilly-Rose M

Year 9: Teagan P

Year 10: Joshua C

Year 11: Hazel F

Sixth Form: Matthew J and Ellie D

Congratulations!
