Welcome to the Principal’s round-up!

eggbucklandcc

Well done to Year 11 and Year 13 who have made a great start to their mock exams this week. Students in Year 11 have been attending pre-exam booster sessions to get ‘exam ready’ and in the ‘zone’ before going into the exam and giving it their best shot. Engagement from the students has been excellent so far – we are all proud of you!

Last week, 60 students in Year 10 and 11 went to Torquay to watch a performance of Macbeth as part of the ‘Revision on Tour’ series. Our students were a credit to us throughout the trip and came back positive about the event. At Eggbuckland, we look for as many opportunities as possible to take learning beyond the classroom and participate in immersive events to support student learning.

This week, selected students in Year 9 have been working on the Articulacy programme through partnership with Next Steps Southwest. This is a targeted programme where students learn essential skills of speaking, listening, discussions and debate. It’s been great to see students enjoying the programme up in the Michael Caddy Centre. Well done team Articulacy!

In sport, we had the U14 Girls Football National Cup Round where the team had a brilliant 1-0 win over Downend, and they are now through to the quarter finals. In U16 Football, the team won 3-1 against QE. Unfortunately, our U15 Girls Football Plymouth League match had to be postponed, but Year 7 and 9 did play matches in the League, with Year 7 having an impressive 5 – 0 win against All Saints.

We also hosted the Devon Schools Table Tennis event at the College last Wednesday, showcasing our brilliant facilities to schools across the County. From the College, 13 players entered and ‘enjoyed’ the intensity of County level play. Parker L-B and Reggie J made the quarter finals against older, more experienced oppositions and Karl L drew a very unlucky draw – losing in the semi-finals to England’s No3! All players and helpers were brilliant ambassadors for the College.

Finally, to our Sparx Winning Tutor Groups and our brilliant Students of the Week.

Congratulations to Alana D, Tom K, Henery H, Jack L, Grace O and Dante P. Well done for being Students of the Week this week!

And our Sparx winning Tutor groups who have shown excellent collective commitment to their Sparx homework:

10CVN, 9MHW, 8MEJ and 7SJW.
