On Tuesday we met The Forest School in the last 16. Last season we lost 3-0 at Reading FC’s training complex in the Quarter Final. With home advantage and a game plan in place the boys were confident and had belief that we could reverse the result.
Defensively Eggbuckland were sound throughout the opening stages and were able to counterattack to create chances. Then halfway through the first half our goalkeeper Kieran saw we had an opportunity of 3 attackers vs 2 defenders and executed his clearance to perfection. The ball bounced in front of the defender who missed it allowing Alfie S to run on to the ball and loft the ball over the oncoming goalkeeper. A lively game continued where our Eggbuckland boys stood up to intimidating behaviour, making important challenges when needed.
Our defence stopped the opponents having any clear cut chances and we go through to the Quarter Final having won 1-0.
